When Albuquerque native (and state historian!)
Rob Martinez burst on the scene last year
with his late blooming debut New Love Environment,
he caught lovers of old-school melodic pop by surprise
and took them by storm. Just like the old days,
Martinez' debut was 10 songs of three-minute concise,
hook-filled classics with thoughtful and detailed
instrumentation and production (courtesy of producer
Adam Marsland).

Martinez again defies current trends and does it old
school – coming back just 11 months later with a
sophomore effort that delivers the pop goods just as
solidly as the first, while adding a few new twists.

Martinez comes stomping out of the gate with "Let Me
Tell You Why" – recalling Todd Rundgren at his
poppiest, takes a turn for the psychedelic with the
Indian-flavored "Sooner Or Later" and "Time," which
recall's ELO's lush balladry. "Get It Right" wears its
glam influence on its sleeve and Martinez even gets his
inner Prince on with the closing track, featuring
labelmates Pacific Soul Ltd.

Rob Martinez' craftsmanship and songwriting gifts may
have been hidden until recently, but Today My
Mind…Tomorrow The World shows that this canny pop
singer is here to stay.
